Go Camping

When you think of summer, what comes to mind? Sun, swimming, campfires, and camping are some of the things that summer consists of. Old Forge Camping Resort is a great destination for guests who want to do all those things! Guests can rent one of the camping cabins, Adirondack cottages, RV sites, or tent sites.

Old Forge Camping Resort has many outdoor activities for guests to enjoy. Guests can rent paddleboats, canoes, and other water accessories to use at the camping resorts private lake, Lake Serene. The entire family can swim in the lake, fish, build sand castles, or even just sit and take in the peace and serenity of being at the lake.

Once night rolls around, it is time for campfires and s’ mores! No night in the Adirondacks is complete without having a campfire and roasting marshmallows! Family and friends gather around the campfire to share stories and memories while roasting marshmallows for some yummy s’ mores. S’mores are loved by many and are a must when having a campfire, especially in the Adirondacks!

Take a hike

Old Forge has many hiking trails for people to enjoy. Hiking trails range in difficulty and experience level. Some trails are better suited for beginners while some are better suited for more experienced hikers. Some of the many hiking trails include Bald Mountain, Cascade Lake, and Black Bear Mountain.

Bald Mountain, also known as Rondaxe Mountain is one of the most popular hiking destinations for many hikers because it is perfect for both beginners and experienced hikers. It is a 1.9-mile hike to the top of Bald Mountain, and throughout the hike, you will experience the beautiful sights and sounds of nature. While hiking Bald Mountain make sure to go to the fire tower and take in the picturesque views of the mountains and the Fulton Chain of Lakes.

Cascade Lake trail is a 5.7-mile loop trail located near Eagle Bay. This trail features a lake and various areas that offer beautiful scenic views. Cascade Lake is a great trail for all skill levels and every member of the family, even the dogs! If you do bring your dog, they must be kept on a leash.

Black Bear Mountain trail is a 4.7-mile loop trail located just past Old Forge, in Inlet. Black Bear Mountain trail features views of the Inlet area of Fourth Lake and is considered a moderate trail. There are several activity options along the trail and can be enjoyed by all hikers.

Enjoy some fun in the sun

Where do you go when you want to enjoy some family fun and go on rides and water slides? Enchanted Forest Water Safari, of course!

Enchanted Forest Water Safari is the perfect place to bring the entire family and enjoy a day full of fun and laughter. Water Safari has over 50 rides, shows, and attractions and is New York’s largest water theme park. Attractions range from Storybook lane and the circus to all the dry rides and water slides. Spend the entire day there and take in all of the fun rides, games and more! There is also a free shuttle ride that will take you from the Old Forge Camping Resort to and from Water Safari.

While at Enchanted Forest Water Safari, make sure to go next door to Calypso’s Cove. Calypso’s Cove has over 40 arcade games for the entire family to play. Not only do they have activities inside, but they also have even more outdoor attractions. They have go-karts, bumper boats, mini golf, a rock-climbing wall, and much more! Make sure to stop at Calypso’s Cove for some fun and exhilarating family fun.

Seasonal activities

The summer season is not the only time to experience all of the activities and attractions that the Adirondacks have to offer. During the winter season, there are many activities for winter enthusiasts to enjoy.

Old Forge is known for their many miles of snowmobiling trails, hiking trails, and ski slopes. McCauley Mountain offers visitors a multitude of slope options with options for beginners and seasoned skiers. Many of the trails in the Adirondacks are ideal for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing – everyone in the family will enjoy winter activities in Old Forge. Trails are located throughout the Adirondacks; from Saranac Lake and Tupper Lake to Lake George and Old Forge.
