White Water Rafting and Other Spring Activities

White Water Rafting and Other Spring Activities

Take a deep breath, now exhale slowly – Ahhh, Spring, the weather is warmer, and the snow is gone. But wait, that means no more skiing and snowmobiling…what is there for a person to do?

In Old Forge, a change of seasons merely means changing from one exciting activity to another. The outdoors is calling and there is a new host of things to do.

Take a guided white-water rafting trip – The whitewater rafting season in the Adirondacks typically begins in April as the snow melt-off creates ideal fast-moving white water for weeks during the spring. The Old Forge Camping Resort is the base for Spring Moose River trips.

Get out and hike…yes, it’s going to be a bit muddy, but the smaller peaks are ideal for spring hiking because the lower elevations usually dry up before the higher ones. Many of these peaks offer views that compare to those in the High Peaks and require half the effort.

Go shopping – If you are, however, more inclined for less nature-related activities, spring is the perfect weather to get out and walk to visit the various shops that are located throughout the Old Forge region. From basic sundries to specialty items you can easily find yourself enjoying a day of shopping.

Dine out– Another favorite spring activity is dining out! Slickers is an Old Forge favorite featuring Pizza, Wings, Burgers, Fresh Salads, seafood and more!

However you choose to enjoy the spring, we welcome you to make Old Forge Camping Resort your Adirondack Base Camp.
